The criteria for today's four-pot, racer on the road sport bikes take their styling cues from the early 80's. The GS1100 is truly the first modern superbike for its use of a four valve cylinder head with a narrow valve angle. The TSCC, or Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber made the GS1100 the fastest bike on the strip when it was introduced in 1980.
